Service Description

Third wave therapy is a group of psychological therapies that emerged in the 1990s and early 2000s as a response to the limitations of earlier forms of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). These therapies emphasize the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and aim to cultivate mindfulness, acceptance, and self-compassion in the treatment of psychological problems. Third wave therapies include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT emphasises acceptance of negative experiences, mindfulness, and values-based behaviour change. It encourages individuals to develop psychological flexibility and move towards a meaningful life. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): DBT combines behavioural therapy with mindfulness and acceptance-based techniques. It is designed to help individuals who struggle with intense and unstable emotions, particularly those with borderline personality disorder. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): MBCT combines mindfulness techniques with cognitive therapy to help individuals cope with stress, depression, and anxiety. It aims to interrupt negative thought patterns and increase self-awareness. Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT): CFT encourages individuals to develop self-compassion and to treat themselves and others with kindness and understanding. It is particularly helpful for those who struggle with shame, self-criticism, and self-esteem issues. Third wave therapies emphasize the importance of developing a non-judgmental and accepting attitude towards oneself and one's experiences. They help individuals to develop a greater sense of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience in the face of life's challenges.


Cancellation Policy

At Change Your Future Therapy, we strive to provide high-quality therapy services to our clients. In order to ensure that our practice operates smoothly and efficiently, we have established the following payment and cancellation policy for therapy sessions: Payment Policy: All therapy sessions must be paid in full within 48 hours of the session. Payment can be made via card or bacs. Failure to pay for a session within the specified time frame may result in the cancellation of future therapy sessions until payment is made. Cancellation Policy: We understand that there may be times when clients need to cancel or reschedule therapy sessions. However, we ask that all cancellations be made with at least 24 hours' notice prior to the scheduled session time. This allows us to offer the appointment slot to another client who may be in need of therapy services. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours' notice or if a client fails to show up for a scheduled session, the client will be charged the full session fee and will not be entitled to a refund. Exceptions may be made in cases of emergency or extenuating circumstances, but this will be at the discretion of the therapist. We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we will make every effort to accommodate our clients' needs while also maintaining the integrity of our practice.
